The National Cereals and Produce Board on 23 rd July, 2020 hosted over twenty
representatives from MOA Kilimo, MO-ICT, County Agriculture CEC representatives,
AFA, SDT COMEX, WRS Council, KCEP-CRAL, UZUZI MILLERS and its Warehouse
client Bora Foods who were on a visit on WRS & Certified Warehouse at Nakuru grain
silo complex.
The visit was organized and moderated by the East African Grain Council (EAGC). The
aim was to build the capacity of the WRS Council on practical aspects of WRS and
related structured trading systems
The participants were taken through the following by CEO-Gerald Masila:
- Overview of EAGC, WRS, and G-SOKO trading platform- This was done by
Mr.Masila and Mr.Ogolla, Ag.CEO WRS Council. - Profile of Bora Foods Ltd which has a capacity of 40TONS and the Collateral
Management Service agreement with EAGC. - The representative from MOALFC indicated that the Government expects
operationalization of WRS by October together with NCPB’s to release of 30% of
its storage capacity to the private sector for WRS implementation.
The delegation also visited the NCPB Warehouse currently leased by Bora Foods
Suppliers Ltd.
